From The Grave: DOFUS has a Sequel

Those with a long memory might remember me glancing at a game called DOFUS a few years ago. Small French developer, game very much like R.O.S.E., which occupied us for a significant span of time, yadda yadda.

Well, apparently DOFUS did so well that they've created a sequel, called Wakfu and they emailed me to let me know they're in closed beta for it.

Yeah, Wakfu. I know.

Despite the obvious "lol, whack fu" jokes that can be made, they've put some hefty money behind this. They have a freaking anime series coming out. Except it's French, so would it really be anime? More like Franime? Or Animais? I like Animais. It's a geek joke and a French joke all in one.

The thing that caught my eye wasn't all of that, though. It was the email's header graphic. It depicts a large breasted Animais chick gleefully beating someone to death with what appears to be a lead pipe.

I can't seem to find a source for it anywhere on their site. In the end, I guess it doesn't matter.

Wakfu is, much like a ton of other recent games, a browser-based Java application. It'll run anywhere on anything. According to their press release, the content that will differentiate Wakfu from other games is "...the absence of non player characters (NPCs)". They also state that "Wakfu will also establish a sophisticated political system where appointed player-governors will rule the various islands and their peers."

If you're into it, go for the beta. Let us know how it is.
