The Internets trembled yesterday.
Allakhazam, he of the Lewts Database for a myriad of games, announced that he was forming a new network of lewtabase sites consisting of his site, Thottbot (a fully owned subsidiary of IGE), OGaming (a fully owned subsidiary of IGE), and L2Orphus, member of the OGaming network (as announced by their headerband). The network is to be called Zam.com, which stands for...
well, apparently nothing.
Which is much what Allakahazam himself stands for now, too.
You see, according to Alla himself:
We are now owned by a company that owns a bunch of stuff, including IGE. They bought both of us (and several other sites as well) and then split us into separate divisions so that there is no interaction between them. You know my stand on gold selling. Before agreeing to anything like this, I wanted to make sure that there would be no interaction between those divisions and that I would have complete control over the new network, including the sites that used to be part of ogaming. So this means that the Ogaming sites and Thottbot have been split off of IGE and into our network and no longer have any connection with them.
Translation: "We aren't owned by IGE, we're just owned by the company that owns IGE."
I'd like to see if that goes down in history as well as "Goddamn setup...bitch set me up," "I have never had sexual relations with Monica Lewinsky," or "I have no idea what you're talking about when you say 'ask.'" have. After all, it's just minor quibbling over perceived specifics. It depends on what the meaning of 'is', is...doesn't it?
You can see a lot of this semantic squabble on Alla's forums, because the general population of his userbase is in revolt, with many of them removing their auto-renewals from their premium accounts.
Some users have even requested that their guides be removed from the site as a response to the news that Alla has gone over to IGE's payroll.
In response, there was another statement by Alla:
I don't like Marlboros, but I still buy oreos. I would never buy a Ford, but would definitely buy a Jaguar. Not big on Taco Bell, but like KFC. Many products you use are owned by people who own other products you may not like. It's the way of the world. As long as the companies are run separately, most people are fine with that. If your oreo cookie wrapper had a marlboro ad on it, maybe that would be a problem. It is important to keep in mind that we are a completely separate company within a large holding company that just happens to own other companies as well.
The logical fallacy of this argument is pointed out later in the thread. As to protestations that there was no proof that RPG Holdings, LLC (who has purchased Allakhazam, no matter which way you spin it) is related to IGE...
OGaming.com is poised for dramatic growth over the next year as its owners, RPG Holdings, LLC, an affiliated company of IGE, is investing a substantial amount of capital in the network.
-Gamezone.com
RPG Holdings, LLC is also known as HostingIndy.com; despite their DomainsByProxy obfuscation of their address, knowing that they also own GayIndy.com and that the TOS puts them in the Indianapolis area for holding purposes I figure it's not a hard line to draw.
The sites affiliated under RPG Holdings lead back to NetVenture, Inc and specifically to Jeffrey Cleary, president of NetVenture. It would seem that "RPG" in this sense stands for "Rose Petal Galore," who is a drag queen...as it turns out Jeffrey Cleary is, too.
So it would seem, on further investigation, that the powers behind (or bankrolling) Allakhazam and/or Zam.com are tech-saavy drag queens.
Considering their affiliation with IGE (no, really), that's not so far off the mark, I'd take it.
Trying to untangle this web should really be the subject of another article. I'll wrap this up by simply saying the following:
Alla, you can keep saying as much as you want about how you're still just the same person and the same site, just with a bigger bankroll, but that money is tainted from above. I'm sure you have a family to think about. John Gotti did, too. He was just a lot more honest about where he got his money from.
News-fuckin-flash edit: Everyone remember IGE Andraste? I've just received interesting news from people extremely in the know. Pay us next time you want to whore on our boards, Savant.
