Makes me WAY glad I have a 360 already.

So if they keep delaying can they be a next next generation console? Seriously though, the thought of buying a PS3 hasn't really entered my mind. I'm just about set on a Wii and a 360 may be in my future if I can't fight off the urge of GH3 and they actually make the game for that platform.

Yeah, I've become much less enamored with the PS3 over the last few months. Can't wait to get my hands on a Wii (har har).

This looks like good news for my friend who has something like 11 PS3s on pre-order. He's one of those jerk-ass re-selling ebayers, but it seems like he'll make a killing this holiday.

Well, they might start limiting the preorders like they did at the 360 launch. They might not let him have them all.

Well, formally you really cannot launch at all if you want to be the next generation. As soon as you launch you are current.

The emergence of Settlers of Catan and other boardgames is making it very tempting to splash on a 360. Ooh, tempting XBLA. Even if there's probably just two or three "full" games for my 720p TV I will be interested in at all.

But if the Nintendo announcement on September 14/15 is something like "our store houses are full, and we will be launching the Wii... TOMORROW!" that will be the one to get. :)

I guess I'm on the otherside of the fence on this. Everytime I see Nintendo release some video of their console(namely the controller) in action I just can't see it being very fun. Sure I could see that being fun for the first 15 mins, but think about how much you have to redo shit in a video game? Is it still going to be fun to wave around Nintendo's little magic remote for the 100th time you attempt to beat X boss? No. It's bad enough running though parts of a game because you died, it's going to be worse if your arm is cramping up from waving it around all silly like for 15 mins.
Their videos show young people jumping around all crazy like it's a damn party, who are these people? Where do they think people are getting all wound up over some videogame that they feel the need to bust out some funky moves with their friends? I lay down on my couch after work to play video games so I can unwind, not party it up with Mario and the crew. Am I just old? Have I hit my peek at 22 and all I care about now is relaxing after working hard? Look for a clip on their site that shows a young man having a pretend battle on his screen while playing metroid, come on the remote isn't that good. It's not going to be able to sense that you've hidden behind the sofa and make Sammus shiled. Whats next? Are they going to show a guy jumping out his window while playing The Matrix and just before he hits the ground utter into the remote "There is no spoon"?
Maybe they'll have some controller that has a fixed joystick and none of the laser beam action, more then likely not though.

PS3 for 600 dollars though is just as silly as Nintendo's magic remote, I won't be getting either.

I think when all their advertisements show all these spastic movements while playing it is probably mostly for show, to get people excited about the possibilities. I'm sure you can play just as well with small movements.

Brings to mind the good ole "Power Glove" which seemed like a great idea until A. I found out how fucking heavy the thing was and B. They didn't bother to make software for it except for some crappy assed handball game. WORST BUY EVAR

For all intentes and purposes the Wii controler is a form of a cordless mouse. thats it. No real gyrations needed. Think of the fps possibilities. Point and shoot. no more multi joystick three handed console bullshit for them. Simply point move and shoot, same as you do on the pc. But from the couch.

At least Sony's delay and reduced launch numbers are a source of great mirth.

Yah, that's probably true considering he somehow managed to get all of the preorders from one store. I don't think he'll care much. I'm pretty sure he didn't expect, before the price announcement, to lay out $700 or so for each unit.

"I love the Power Glove. It's so bad."

I can see why they didn't expand on that thing, but it was still usable in some games. I used it for Mike Tyson's Punch Out and Rad Racer. It was pretty cool, until the sensors flipped out a few days after I bought it. That was bound to happen though, I bought it in a pawn shop well after NES was out of date.

I still keep the glove around somewhere. I don't think it works anymore, but I like putting it on and wondering how far we could get now with virtual reality.

Or masturbate yourself with it to get that "other persons hand" feeling.

Looks like the Wii will be ready to go soon. I'd love to see this sucker come out in October. Less than a week to go until whatever bomb Nintendo is going to drop (on the 14th).

Wii has pretty much bought me. Videos of little japanese kids crazily punching with the controls. It reminds me of being a kid, but you know, it actualy works.

I can see kids growing up playing it. and dont wanna miss it.
