Ubi says:
The Frag Dolls are an all-female gaming team who is out to show the world that gaming isn’t just for the boys.
My opinion, and I just happen to be a real women who games:
1. Be fucking honest about who the FD audience is. It is the 15-25 yr old male demographic. WHO is actually posting on those FD forums?
2. Clue: IF you want to attract the "real female gamer" show women with at least a variety game interests, ages, sizes, and pick another name that isn't insulting. Why not show at least some with the more popularly female games or actually provide a little depth?
3. Pick a side and stick with it - YOU CAN'T DO BOTH. Had you said they were strictly booth babes that could play, I wouldn't give a shit and seen it as a pathetic but not cared. Pass them off as your attempt to advertise to women and everyone thinks you are a moron. Besides, it pisses off me and most of the other REAL women gamers.
Crap like this only strengthens the argument that very little consideration (if any at some companies) is given to the gamer who is female. Don't bother advertising to me - just don't ANTI advertise. I want to see that ANYONE in marketing actually understands the entire audience (not just the male 15-25), and if you don't fucking pay someone who does. I want more women to play, but this kind of advertising only perpetuates the negative myths about women gamers and makes gaming seem that much more geeky to real women not getting paid who otherwise might have tried it.
