Global/Player run Quests.

As mentioned earlier, there will be a number of Global Quests that players server wide can participate in - this isn’t to be confused with server-wide events which World Masters will be conducting on a weekly basis. Global quests will be quests that will affect the gameplay of all players. Earlier I discussed the “Plague Rain”, which can be eliminated by repairing the “Weather Control Center”. These types of quests will be abundant and will dramatically effect the gaming environment. The world of Charr on release date will hopefully, if players work together, be a very different world a year later.

Player Quests are set up in Havens and assigned through programming Defense Companions. Players will be able to give out quests and rewards by programming their Defense Companions with a small script. The script allows the DeComps to say something when “hailed” and assign a quest. If a player successfully completes another player’s quests then he/she receives the reward. Obviously, the rewards are given to the DeComps prior to the quest and cannot be taken back unless the player decides to cancel the quest altogether. Players will not be able to cancel a quest once it has been accepted, however may place time restrictions on such a quest. This helps eliminate exploits from both the person who assigns and the person who accepts the quest. Player quests present a unique way for characters to interact with other players while managing their own time more efficiently. For instance, a high-level player may require certain components to a quest that he/she simply does not have the time to carry out. By assigning a quest to a younger player the high-level player may go off and rid the world of The Grimm or whatever while the young player earns some extra money or loot. It’s a “win-win” situation for both parties.

It would take several more pages to describe all the other goodies we have planned for Charr. I’ll make sure I update you on our progress!
